Climate Extreme Indices

CLIMDEX (Datasets for Indices of Climate Extremes) is a project that produces resources and datasets of indices representing climate extremes. Please visit CLIMDEX for more information on the project. The Expert Team on Climate Change Detection and Indices (ETCCDI) defined a total of 27 core climate extreme indices. These indices are based on daily temperature and precipitation.

Climate Extreme Indices Dataset

The ETCCDI Climate Extreme Indices dataset is a global land-based climate extremes dataset produced through the coordination of the Expert Team for Climate Change Detection Indices (ETCCDI). This dataset comprises of 27 core indices of temperature and precipitation computed from daily station data using the RClimDex software package.

Climate Model Projections of Climate Extreme Indices

The climate extreme indices are also computed for a number of global climate models which participated in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 3 (CMIP3) and Phase 5 (CMIP5). This data are available through the ETCCDI Extreme Indices Archive.
